Backhanded Apology: What Archie's initial apology is ... an insincere apology where he insists that he is king and master of his house and that he disapproves of what Mike and Gloria do in private.
Ordered Apology: Archie adamantly refuses to apologize for breaching Mike and Gloria's privacy, insisting that it is his house, his rules and he has a right to know everything going on under his roof at all times ... even though they, along with Edith, are by now fed up and seriously contemplating their options. Rather than have Archie call their bluff, everyone finally has to be creative and trick Archie into admitting he was wrong for his heavy-handed household proprietary behavior.
The Unapologetic: One gets the impression Archie still isn't really sorry for his overbearing behavior toward Mike and Gloria, even after Edith and Gloria's friends all help the Meathead and the Little Goil call him on it and Archie grudgingly concedes defeat.
