Basic Trope: A mode in a pinball table, perhaps the ultimate goal, that requires serious skill to get to and provides large points.

  • Straight: The Alice & Bob pinball table features a mode that is featured where by completing all of the challenging tasks on the table near the flippers, the player can pull off a series of shots that each score 30 million.
  • Exaggerated: The Alice & Bob wizard mode requires God-level play to even trigger the possibility of setting it in, and a very technical shot is needed to initiate it. Afterwards, the player is given hundreds of millions or even billions per shot. Also, the game ends since the wizard mode revolves around the final boss.
  • Downplayed: Once some small tasks have been completed, a special mode is triggered, but it does offer more limited bonuses in comparison to wizard modes on other tables. That, or it's the sub-wizard mode.
  • Justified: The manufacturer needed a reason to keep players with enough skill coming back to play the machine again.
  • Inverted: If balls are drained with low scores, opportunities are opened up for easing, like a shot for an extra ball.
  • Subverted: Once the challenging tasks are completed, the game just resets back to normal. No extra modes are present.
  • Double Subverted: It turns out that wasn't the right way to trigger the wizard mode, or that you had to be in multiball to do it.
  • Parodied: The table starts counting points using powers of 10 and has acknowledged the long lines waiting on the backglass.
  • Zig-Zagged: The sub-wizard can be accomplished without triggering wizard mode, and vice versa.
  • Averted: There aren't any missions to complete, and the ones that are there are rather small.
  • Enforced: This game is meant purely for competitive purposes. Doing so establishes dominance at arcades.
  • Lampshaded: "All you need to access our super sweet mania of points is a lot of time, a lot of quarters, and some good nudging skills for your inevitable frustration!"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Professionals get the ability to do this so easily that they can doo this multiple times per ball.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "Well that was a lot of work. We have one more thing to do. And it's big."
  • Conversed: "Geez, are they just giving out points like it's candy?"
