Basic Trope: An ad shows people doing reckless, bad, stupid or foolish things to get their product.

  • Straight: An ad shows Alice running across train tracks to get a box of doughnuts.
  • Exaggerated: In the ad, Alice runs across the train tracks, interrupts a surgeon, teases a lion and wrestles a shark just to get one doughnut.
  • Downplayed: Alice plays hooky off work to get the box of doughnuts.
  • Justified: Alice is The Ditz and doughnuts are her Trademark Favourite Food.
  • Inverted: Alice does something sensible to get doughnuts in the ad.
  • Subverted: It turns out that Alice running across the train tracks was All Just a Dream.
  • Double Subverted: But then she wakes up and sells her own house for a box of doughnuts.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zigzagged: Alice tries several tricks to get the doughnuts, some of them are dumber than others.
  • Averted: Alice just goes out and buys the doughnuts the normal way.
  • Enforced: "We want to make the doughnuts seem so good, people would risk their lives to eat them."
  • Lampshaded: "Why did I do that? I could've died! I'm better off hungry than dead!"
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: A villain tries to kill Alice by putting the doughnuts on the other side of the tracks.
  • Defied: "These doughnuts are yummy, but don't risk your life over them."
  • Discussed: "What would you do for a box of donuts?"
  • Conversed: "Do these advertisers think that their products are worth losing your pride, brain, morality or life over?!"
  • Implied: ???
  • Deconstructed: Alice dies from being hit by the train.
  • Reconstructed: She manages to zip back just before the train comes.
  • Played for Laughs: ???
  • Played for Drama: Alice ends up being hit by the train and gets seriously injured.
