- Straight: An ad shows Alice running across train tracks to get a box of doughnuts.
- Exaggerated: In the ad, Alice runs across the train tracks, interrupts a surgeon, teases a lion and wrestles a shark just to get one doughnut.
- Downplayed: Alice plays hooky off work to get the box of doughnuts.
- Justified: Alice is The Ditz and doughnuts are her Trademark Favourite Food.
- Inverted: Alice does something sensible to get doughnuts in the ad.
- Subverted: It turns out that Alice running across the train tracks was All Just a Dream.
- Double Subverted: But then she wakes up and sells her own house for a box of doughnuts.

- Zigzagged: Alice tries several tricks to get the doughnuts, some of them are dumber than others.
- Averted: Alice just goes out and buys the doughnuts the normal way.
