Basic Trope: A rich, pampered, optimistic, overly sweet girl who could easily be the gorgeous popular mean girl, but she isn't.

  • Straight: Beth is beautiful, popular, indulged by her family and friends and she's the object of every boy's affections. She is one of the nicest people in school.
  • Exaggerated:
    • Beth's parents spoil her and indulge her every wish. Their servants adore her. All the other kids love her and want to be friends with her. She could act like a brat but Beth doesn't have a malicious bone in her body and she's super sweet to everybody, even to people who don't deserve it. She believes all people are inherently good and she cares about all of them.
    • Beth's parents are the richest people around who shower their only daughter with care and attention. Beth is very generous with her money and she wants to share her nice things with others. She buys custom luxury lunches for everyone at school and goes shopping for new clothes with less well-off girls. She's a sweetheart who offers a shoulder to cry on even to the poorest orphaned beggar girl and takes her home as her companion, treating her like a sister.
  • Downplayed: Beth has the same pampered background as her mean, catty sister Becky. Unlike Becky, Beth is a sweet person, even if not one of the sickeningly sweetest.
  • Justified: Beth's parents taught her not to abuse her power and to be kind to others— Beth has earned the popularity she has. She genuinely believes all people are good.
  • Subverted: Beth's first scene is her acting nice and sweet, trying to befriend the obviously less popular kids in school, including Claire. The second Beth gets Claire alone, she's worse than bratty Alice and puts her down. But since they're alone, who're people gonna believe— sweet little ol' Beth or nobody Claire?
  • Double Subverted: Beth's first scene is her acting nice and sweet, trying to befriend the obviously less popular kids in school, including Claire. The second Beth gets Claire alone, she's worse than bratty Alice and puts her down. But since they're alone, who're people gonna believe— sweet little ol' Beth or nobody Claire? Soon it turns out that Beth was just pretending to be mean and actually doing a caricature of Alice to make Claire laugh. She really does care about Claire.
  • Averted: Beth is indulged and pampered and pretty and popular and all, but is neither a brat nor a sweetheart — just a normal kid.
  • Enforced: "It's a bit cliche to have the rich and pretty girl be a brat, isn't it? Let's introduce a friend for Alice, who's actually super sweet to everyone."
  • Lampshaded: "It's actually kind of refreshing to meet a girl who's rich and pretty and popular but who is so sweet. I feel like Tiana and you're my Charlotte. Aw, darling, that's so sweet of you, but you don't need to give me a tiara."
  • Invoked: Beth thinks she has to act sweet and be helpful to anyone because it's properly feminine. She is abnormally kind to everyone and she makes sure that her fellow students know that she and Alpha Bitch Alice are not one and the same.
  • Exploited: People act like they want to be Beth's friends since she has so many nice things and she's willing to share.
  • Defied: ???
  • Discussed: "Have you met the new girl? I heard her dad bought her two convertibles because she liked both the red one and the pink one. And she's so sweet you wouldn't believe it — she likes and hangs out with my nerdy sister."
  • Conversed: "Those characters based on Cher Horowitz or Elle Woods start to feel so cliché. Wealthy, stylish, fashionable, kinda shallow, but sweet to absolutely everyone? They bore me to death, to be honest."
  • Deconstructed: Beth's kindness stems from being so used to getting whatever she wants, and has never truly experienced what would happen if there was something she couldn't get or lose, and that could potentially put her in a bad mood.
  • Reconstructed: However, this has also gone for so long that things have started to get boring for her, and wouldn't mind having to come across that problem for once.
  • Played For Laughs: Beth is a sugary sweet person who is totally oblivious to how horrible her friend Alice is, often being nice to Claire at the exact same time Alice is being horrid to the girl. She is naive to the highest degree and always forgives people who wrong her.
  • Played For Drama: Beth is the first successor of her family's business/throne, and her kindness is rooted in her naivety, so people around her trying their best to dethrone her.

Come with me to Spoiled Sweet. We can take my limo, if you want. Plenty of room for everyone!
