- Straight: Alice gets shot in the chest where her heart should be, but isn't.
- Alice has Bizarre Human Biology, and her heart is in a different spot (like the right side of her chest instead of the left).
- Alice is an alien, and her heart is in an even weirder spot, like her foot.
- Exaggerated: Alice sustains injuries in nearly every vital area imaginable, but her biology makes it so she somehow survives.
- Downplayed: Alice gets shot in the chest mere millimeters from her heart.

- Alice is immortal and doesn't have/need organs.
- Alice's injury is Only a Flesh Wound.
- Inverted: Alice gets shot in an area that could not be further from an area that could affect her heart, but still somehow suffers heart failure.
- Subverted: Alice gets shot in a normally non-vital area, but her Bizarre Human Biology means her heart was in the area she was shot.
- Double Subverted: ...but it turns out she has more than one heart, and the two function like kidneys, where she only needs one to live.
- Parodied: Alice walks into a room with other characters with gunshots or arrows shot through her vitals, with the other characters freaking out about her injuries, but she brushes their concerns off and only cares about first aid due to her organs being in weird places (that she may or may not have neglected to tell the other characters beforehand).
- Zig-Zagged: Alice's organs shift and move on a regular basis, and an injury to a particular spot would be a flesh wound one day and certain death on another.
