Basic Trope: A character is repulsed by the fact there are fanfics of their source material.
- Straight: Alice and Bob find out there's a slash fanfic about them where they have a make out sesh. They both gag in disgust.
- Exaggerated: Alice and Bob find out someone has made a bible long fanfic if them that’s just one long sex scene, insane kinks and all. Alice dies instantly and Bob declares war on the country of England. (He's not mad at them specifically or anything, he's just that pissed.)

- Alice and Bob are only a little disturbed.
- It's a pretty normal fanfic, but Alice is a bit miffed by a minor mischaracterization of herself.
- The fanfic is a PG-rated romance, and they just overreact.

- Alice and Bob are real people in their universe.

- The fanfic majorly mischaracterizes them.
- Alice and Bob always insist they aren't romantically interested in eachother, and whenever someone brings it up, they feel icky.
- Subverted: Alice and Bob are weirded out by their likeness being used at first, but eventually they grow to like it.
- Double Subverted: They read a misconception and decide the fic was good until that point.
- Inverted: Alice and Bob like the fic so much they hire the writer to make it into a real episode.

- Alice and Bob think they're reading a fanfic, but then learn that it’s actually a script of one of the episodes of their own show.
- Alice and Bob surprisingly like the fanfic, no matter how steamy or smutty it is; They even give out pointers and tips on how to make the fic even better!
- Averted: Alice and Bob don't react negatively to the fanfic whatsoever.

- Zig-Zagged: Alice and Bob like the fic, but then hate a section of it. The ending then clears up the confusion for them, making them like it more.

- Lampshaded: "Calm down, you're TV characters. I get 5 fanfics a day about me and I don't make a fuss!"
- Discussed: "What do you MEAN she looked into my emerald orbs?"

- Exploited: The viewers like that their fanfic is being seen as by the characters, whether they like it or not.
- Played for Laughs: Alice and Bob's reactions are exaggerated, making it hilarious.
- Played for Drama: The fanfiction was blackmail by another character.
- Played for Horror: Alice and Bob notice that the fanfic is strangely accurate to their lives. It contains true information about them that they haven’t even told all of their friends about, let alone a stranger on the Internet. The pair worries that it was written by a stalker. Then, at the end, a note from the author mentions that Alice and Bob is their favorite TV show. Alice and Bob realize that they’re fictional characters, and their entire world is fake.
