Basic Trope Description: A central law in a Dystopia that is nearly impossible to be kept.
- Straight: The People's Republic Troperia outlawed being angry, and if you ever get angry, they send you to torture prison.
- Exaggerated: Troperia outlawed even thinking about any negative emotion. Everyone who dares to think of unhappiness is immediately killed and then Barred from the Afterlife.
- Downplayed: Troperia outlawed candy, and sends everyone found in possession of candy to minimum-security prison.
- Justified: Troperia was established just after a great war that was caused by someone getting too angry.
- Inverted: Everything is allowed in Troperia, and there are no laws at all.
- Subverted: When Alice arrives in Troperia, she witnesses nobody ever getting angry. But Troperians just don't have reasons for that.
- Double Subverted: She learns about the Government Drug Enforcement over the tap water that keeps everyone calm.
- Enforced: Troperia needs to be firmly established as a dystopia.
- Averted: Troperia doesn't have any law that's impossible to keep.
- Zigzagged: What exactly is forbidden changes on the whims of the dictator.
- Parodied: Troperia outlawed pineapple pizza, and everyone is content with it - not out of fear of the punishments, but because nobody likes pineapple pizza anyway.
- Exploited: Bob gets his rival for a promotion, Charlie, angry to get him arrested and therefore, rid of him.
- Lampshaded: "They may not get angry there? But is that even possible?"
- Discussed: "They outlawed anger..." "Really? What next? Sex? Love? Thinking?
- Conversed: "Never allowed to be angry. I couldn't keep it."
