- Subverted: They arrive at the doctor's office, but Alice decides they blow off the appointment, and they leave for the restaurant before either of them gets out of the car.
- Double Subverted: Alice feels guilty during the car trip and covertly makes a sincere effort to take Bob to the restaurant, but her online navigation system reveals the restaurant's closed, and she takes Bob to the doctor via the scenic route.
- Averted: Alice tells Bob that they are going to the doctor, offering to go to the restaurant once the physical's done as a reward is optional.

- Alice thinks over telling Bob that they will go to the restaurant, but she decides that it's not a good idea to lie to her child because that way lies only one (awful) resolution: being disbelieved in a critical moment.
- Bob makes clear that horrible things will happen if Alice ever lies to him. So she decides to always make clear where are they going when she takes him on a ride.
