Playing With / Call a Human a "Meatbag"

Go To

Basic Trope: A non-human uses a derogatory term for humans.

  • Straight: Rob the robot calls Alice the human a "sack of wet flesh".
  • Exaggerated: Rob uses increasingly long and offensive humanity-based epithets even when he's ostensibly trying to be kind to Alice.
  • Downplayed: Rob refers to humans using qualifiers rather than names, such as calling Alice "female human".
  • Inverted: Alice calls Rob a "bucket of bolts".
  • Subverted: Rob yells "WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS, YOU FLAPPING PILE OF MEAT?!" across the room. Alice thinks he's cursing her out, but it turns out Rob just got salami stuck to his camera.
  • Averted:
    • Nobody refers to any animal with insults that reduce them to their base components.
    • There are no robots, aliens, talking plants, or any of the like.
    • There are no meaty creatures around to insult.
  • Lampshaded: "That insult's been used a million times, and each time it's been cheesier than the last."
  • Invoked: Carol gave Rob programming to specifically detect Alice so he could disrespect her in this way.
  • Conversed: "What's up with this show and the phrase "meatbag"? It just seems like the director had testicles on the brain and couldn't be bothered to stop their own Freudian Slips.
  • Played for Horror: The robots are calling the humans "meat" because that's what they're using them for - food for the true dominant species.
