Basic Trope: Beating someone to death using blunt objects or fists.
- Straight:
- Bobby beats Frank to death with a crowbar.
- Bobby beats Frank to death with his own bare hands.
- Exaggerated: Bobby beats Frank to the consistency of chunky salsa dip.
- Downplayed: Bobby beats Frank up pretty bad, but ends up not killing him.
- Justified:
- The first thing Bobby grabbed was a crowbar. Good enough.
- Frank killed Bobby's dog, and Bobby doesn't have a weapon. Thankfully, his fists work just fine.
- Inverted: Instant Death Stab.
- Subverted: Bobby beats Frank to within an inch of death, but decides to let him rot away instead of finishing him off.
- Double Subverted: Actually, one last punch for the road!
- Parodied: Bobby punches Frank until Bobby's fists are a bloody mess, or if Bobby has a blunt weapon, he beats Frank with it until the blunt weapon is broken too.
- Zig-Zagged: Bobby beats Frank nearly to death. Bobby considers leaving him to rot, but kicks him in the head to finish him instead. Frank lives, and tries to get a desperate hit on Bobby. Bobby notices and kicks him again and again and again, once again nearly killing him. This time, Bobby actually does leave him to rot away.
- Lampshaded: "I really just beat a man to death with a crowbar... Well, he got what was coming to him."
- Invoked: Frank just hurt Alice. Bobby retaliates by beating him to death.
- Defied: Bobby grabs a blunt weapon, but ends up using it to, in one way or another, stab Frank instead.
- Discussed: "Why is that crowbar covered in blood?" "Beat a guy to death with it. Why?"
- Conversed: "He just beat a guy with a crowbar! How is this stuff allowed on TV?!"
