Basic Trope: What appears to be a silhouette of someone else turns out to be different.
- Straight: Alice and Bob meet Charles. Charles invites them to his house and introduces a new friend of his, who is standing in silhouette. He seems to be the seemingly dead Emperor Evulz... until he comes nearer and takes off his coat. It's actually Danny.
- Exaggerated: Danny's silhouette really resembles Evulz when we first see him, complete with his twisting mustache and abnormally long arms. Turns out it's just some leaves on Danny's nose and him holding very thick ropes.
- Downplayed: Danny only appears in silhouette wearing Evulz's favorite hat when we first see him.
- Justified: The lighting in Charles' house is pretty bad, so many characters only appear in silhouette when seen from far away.
- Inverted: Danny is recognizable in silhouette, but he looks like Evulz when nearby.
- Subverted:
- It turns out that Danny is Evulz reincarnated, and he is here to plot revenge on Alice and Bob.
- We see what appears to be Evulz in silhouette... but it's actually Danny. Then Evulz shoots Danny from behind.
- Double Subverted:
- Actually, Danny was just pretending to be a reincarnation of Evulz as an elaborate prank on Alice and Bob.
- And then he comes out, revealing that he was actually Danny, and the "Danny" he shot was just a robot. He was doing target practice.
- Parodied: The silhouette shows Danny who obviously isn't Evulz, but the work makes it dramatic by showing flashbacks of Evulz, having suspenseful music, and dramatic cuts, even though Danny is fatter and shorter than Evulz.
