Basic Trope: Sports are portrayed incorrectly, with players not following the rules or doing things that are impossible in Real Life
- Straight: Alice and Bob make illegal moves or plays in sports.
- Exaggerated: Alice and Bob flat out break the laws of physics.
- Justified:
- This is explained as a "Variant" to explain rule-changes.
- Alice is just daydreaming.
- Alice incorrectly states a rule, only to be corrected.
- Alice and Bob are little kids, and thus don't know how the sport is actually played so they get things wrong.
- The New York Yankees are playing a charity game against Team Make-A-Wish.
- Lampshaded: "...Wait a minute, that's against the rules, isn't it?"
- Invoked: Screw the Rules, I Have Money!
- Played for Laughs: Alice and Bob make hilariously impossible move(s) and play(s).
- Parodied: They are playing some strange variant of a sport where impossible thing(s) and rule(s) are different, to the point where it devolves into Calvin Ball territory.
- Deconstructed: Alice and Bob's illegal sports moves eventually evolves into a completely new sport, much like how American Football grew out of Association Football and Rugby Union.
