Basic Trope: A character apologizes as they attack another.
- Straight: Bob has been fooled by Emperor Evulz into thinking that Alice is the real villain. Alice is forced to beat Bob unconscious, and apologizes as she does so.
- Exaggerated: Bob has been mind controlled by Evulz. Alice repeats over and over that she is sorry while beating him up to the point that he is too injured to stop her.
- Downplayed: Alice whispers an apology that Bob can't even hear after knocking him out without injuring him.

- This is the only way to get the Hot-Blooded and stubborn Bob to calm down and listen.
- Alice doesn't like violence and is apologizing to let Bob know that she wouldn't have hurt him if she had a choice in the matter.
- Alice's body is being controlled by an external force despite having free will and she is unable to prevent herself from attacking Bob.
- Inverted: Alice curses Bob as she fights to protect him.
- Subverted: "Sor-... I mean so sad! It's so sad that it came down to this, isn't it?" *Attacks Bob.*
