Basic Trope: Someone is adopted into royalty.

  • Straight: Bob gets adopted into King Ronald's family.
  • Exaggerated: Bob is a piece of plankton who gets adopted into The Almighty God Ronald's home.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob, an aristocrat gets adopted into King Ronald's family.
    • Bob becomes Sworn Brothers with King Ronald's son, Prince Phillip (so unofficially adopted).
    • Bob marries King Ronald's daughter and heir apparent Princess Alice, becoming the Prince Consort and Ronald's son-in-law.
  • Justified: Ronald visits Bob's orphanage once in a while and notes that Bob knows quite a lot about running a kingdom, and conveniently he wanted a son for a while, so he took him in.
  • Inverted: Bob is a prince that gets adopted by Alice, a peasant.
  • Subverted: Ronald looks like a king, however he was cosplaying for a fair, and it's revealed that he's a relatively normal father.
  • Double Subverted: ... But then the car drives straight to the Castle, and it's revealed that Ronald dresses like a commoner to blend in.
  • Parodied: ???
  • Zig Zagged: ???
  • Averted: Bob, a orphan gets adopted by normal parents.
  • Enforced: ???
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Implied: Bob mentions his new family being "on top of the world", yet we never see them.
  • Invoked: Ronald need a male heir fast, so he started hunting the orphanages for one.
  • Exploited: Charles, the actual heir doesn't do anything, knowing that he is placed above Bob in the place for the throne anyways.
  • Defied: Ronald: "If I want a male heir, I should get one by my own blood, I think adopting one will cause issues down the line."
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Deconstructed: ???
  • Reconstructed: ???
  • Played For Drama: Despite Bob knowing way more about the kingdom than his brother-in-law Charles ever did, Charles was chosen king simply for being Ronald's biological son, making Bob feel like his years of learning are a waste.
