- The Ravaged One. The first Ethereal to enter the story in the flesh... and by God, does he leave an impact. His horribly scarred appearance and tattered clothing makes him seem like a dead man walking, and then there's his psionic aura, which makes everyone in its radius constantly feel every injury and every instance of pain they ever felt, all the time.
- The very first thing he does is to visit the Bastion to admonish Saudia for her and EXALT's arrogance, leaving her significantly shaken for the next few chapters. The second thing he does? He lands on Plymouth, and lets his aura run free, killing every single resident in the process, before waiting for XCOM. The results of that aren't pretty; not a single element of that squad even gets close to him without dying. Not even the Skyranger pilot, which is a first for the entire story.
