There is a reason why this game is advertised as having "a shade of existential dread". Why wouldn't there be in a potential Apocalypse How?
As per Nightmare Fuel policy, all spoilers are unmarked!
- The Monsters never fail to retain a sense of creepiness despite having a wide range of cartoonish designs. Take the Balloon and Cham, for instance.
- Remember that the Monsters' main mechanic during matches is feeding. Which means eating a Buster.
- Octo, Snail, Pirarucu and Toad have all been separated from their loved ones by the time the story begins, with none of them even sure if they're still alive.
- Anemone's behavior is already unsettling as is, but get her riled up about her research...
◊ - Clione's mother actually died saving Clione from a Monster attack and essentially left him suicidal.
- Team Virus's efforts to cover the world in Monsters and Undead just to revive their leader's dead son. And using Clione as the vessel.
