Ho Yay / Mother Keeper

Go To

Mother Keeper has it's fair share.

  • There are a few times where parallels have been drawn between Lint's dead wife and Ricalna. They supposedly talk the same and everything. There's also a scene where they're forced to share a motorbike and Lint having to sit as close to Ricalna as physically possible.
  • Graham and Zelik have a lot of Ho Yay going on for not having that much screen time
    • Zelik acts like he’s Ricalna’s dad just as much as Graham does and is very sentimental about him.
    • Zelik is the only person in the entire series who seems to have a clue as to what Graham’s plans and motives are.
    • Zelik gets very angry over Graham comparing himself to Silas ( a man who abused and tortured Zelik), acting as if he could never see Graham being anything like Silas.
    • Later on when Zelik seems to think he's going to die, his first thought is about Graham
    • During Hunter Part Two, Graham has quite obviously gone out of his way to find Zelik, what possible reason would he be in the middle of a wasteland otherwise?
    • When Graham sees Zelik is about to collapse, he instantly throws his gun away despite the fact he should still be worrying about any remaining threats, just so he can catch him and share a very teary hug (involving his petting Zelik's hair).
    • At the end of Hunter Part Two, Graham appears to have spent a whole day sitting by Zelik's hospital bed waiting for him to wake up. When he sees how upset Zelik is about what Silas did, he practically looks like he's going to murder Silas.
    • In the final part of Hunter Graham really does kill Silas, and in fact goes a bit over board with his killing methods. If he'd only needed to kill Silas to get Zelik to keep the cocytus going, he could have killed him quickly or had some member of COSMOS do it for him.
      • There is no possible ulterior motive to killing Silas. Graham doesn't let Zelik know it happened so he's not using it to convince Zelik to reopen the Cocytus and even if he needed to get the VIP pass for Adam, Zelik would already agree since Graham did just save his life. The only real reason for it is as he said, he believes Silas ruined Zelik's chance at a decent life.
    • When Graham is about to kill Silas, Silas offers him all the money and power Graham could need to get high up in Eden or destroy it. Graham states that Zelik is more important than any of that.
    • When Zelik loses his arm, eye and ear, Graham offers to pay Adam to replace them using the cyborg technology. Even Zelik says that it's a pretty crazy request for a friend to make.
      • Graham is pretty insistent on wanting to make sure that if Zelik wants the treatment he gets it before the supplies run out.
  • Syal and Jim. Syal is one of the few people Jim treats nicely and Syal refuses to believe anything mean said about Jim. Syal even gives Jim credit for giving her a new life. When Jim thinks Syal and Ricalna are getting close, she seems visibly upset but cares more about Syal's happiness.
  • Syal and Elsa. The actual relationship between them is rather ambiguous, as it's hard to tell whether Syal sees her as a mother, sister or as a girlfriend. Syal did kiss her on the cheek and tell Elsa she liked her the most, then later was willing to die in hope of saving Elsa's life.
  • Turkes has a ridiculously obvious crush on Ricalna, one that is certainly not helped by the fact that the translation team made some minor errors.
    • Turkes tends to have No Sense of Personal Space around Ricalna which is a huge factor of this.
    • When they first meet Turkes states that he wants Ricalna to become his man. It's suggested that he meant this in a way of having Ricalna fight for him, but Ricalna took it the gay way.
    • Turkes has a habit of seeming to be very interested in making sure Ricalna is okay and stays careful.
    • Turkes does offer to take Ricalna back to COSMOS even though it probably won't achieve much for him, however Ricalna refuses due to thinking Turkes is asking him out.
    • Turkes rips off his skin to try and make Ricalna understand that they are the same. It's a pretty desperate move to try and make someone understand you.
    • Adam finds it rare that Turkes would actually take an interest in someone other than himself.
    • Turkes claims he only cares about those useful to him and then immediately retracts the statement when Adam asks him if Ricalna is useful to him, claiming he would have Ricalna "no matter what" and he'll make him his.
    • Apparently Ricalna is the first person in a long time to get Turkes "excited".
    • The next time Ricalna and Turkes meet, Ricalna doesn't actually seem to mind him at all. Ricalna seems to actually be okay with Turkes as long as he isn't brutally murdering everyone he can get his hands on.
    • Turkes is very quick to give Ricalna every piece of information he has on the situation in the slums and Graham's plans without Ricalna even asking for it. Giving Ricalna such information has no benefit to him and he is basically just doing it to make sure Ricalna doesn't get himself hurt.
    • When Ricalna goes to face Adam, Adam tries to make Turkes fight Ricalna, but Turkes refuses, and decides to help Ricalna instead.
    • When Heaven's Tower is about to explode, Ricalna tells Turkes to get Mother and Lennard out of there. Turkes refuses, deciding he'd rather stay with Ricalna despite knowing there's hardly any chance they'll live.
    • Turkes is willing to die and go to Hell with Ricalna.
    • Turkes dies with his head on Ricalna's lap after being horrible injured trying to protect him.
  • Allen and Silas.
    • Silas's comment of "Next time, just bet on me then." comes across as mildly flirtatious
    • When the death ring is under attack by Eden guards, Silas has a clear chance to escape with everyone else. He instead stays back to try and convince Allen to leave and give up on his bet. Staying behind basically guaranteed his arrest.
    • The only time Silas ever seems in any way upset is when the top of Allen's head is blown off killing him.
    • When Allen died, blood splattered on Silas's suit. Later when Silas kidnaps Zelik and tortures him, Zelik's arm is cut off. Blood splatters onto Silas's suit, possibly reminding him of Allen's death and he attacks Zelik in blind fury.
    • Silas will stop at nothing to find out who caused Allen's death and kill them.
    • Silas's surname changes following Allen's death. It's possible that this was meant to suggest they were married.
