- When Granny loses her hat (inside an alligator) Gogol tries to send Mr. Saturday after it, but Granny refuses to let him even though a hat is one of the most important things a witch can have. This especially heartwarming when you realise that Granny is uncomfortable around zombies and yet she still refuses to let him go.
- Afterwards, Gogol gives Granny her own good hat that she wears on special occasions to replace it.
- A subtle one: Granny is uncomfortable with zombies and dislikes that Mrs. Gogol made one. She notices that he seems to be more sentient than many of the living people she's met, and she remembers that a person has to want to come back for a reason more powerful than death as she looks into his eyes and realizes they are blazing. Then she holds out her hand.
- Grannys love for her sister. Even though shes angry and doesnt approve of her methods, Granny refuses to hand her over to Gogol and even offers to take her back to Lancre.
