Heartwarming / The Coffin of Andy and Leyley

Go To

Despite the setting is ruled by a MegaCorp conspiracy who openly harvests people's organs like they're farm animals and our Villain Protagonists are really no better, it does not prevent it from having sweet moments.

  • The world in general might seem like an uncaring place, but take a closer look, and you'll find out the only genuinely evil people are the ones working for ToxiSoda and Ashley herself. Even Andrew has to be manipulated by Ashley to become just as depraved as her, the Lady upstairs just doesn't care, the Graves's parents likely still have some semblances of humanity left, Andrew's two former love interests are just nice people who just happened to have to deal with an utterly depraved sociopath, and the demon-worshiping cultists are outright friendly folk who fail to even summon a demon because the people there are nowhere near as evil as Ashley to be willing to kill people over it.
  • Horrible as Ashley is, there are several hints that indicates that she genuinely cared for Andrew beyond a mere possession she lusts after. Most notably, in the Decay Route where Ashley sees a vision of Andrew being fed up of her antics and killing her, the other way around or a mutual suicide, she's outright terrified regardless of the outcome. She genuinely cared about her big brother and didn't want to see the day where they'll have to kill one and/or the another.
  • In Episode 1, Ashley can find a good amount of cash in the cultist's wallet. If you choose to split it with Andrew, he'll appreciate your honesty and promise to buy you something later. This gives Ashley a happy moodlet.
  • Episode 2 can have Andrew keep his promise by buying Ashley the Caramel Apple-Cinnamon soda she was eyeing from the vending machine, despite their limited funds. Ashley is very grateful for the thought, and though she winds up hating the soda, she endeavors to finish it anyway, since it was a gift. Both siblings get a happy moodlet from this conversation.
  • Given we find out the Graves sibling's parents sold them to ToxiSoda to have their organs harvested for a large sum of cash they used to buy a house and we already see implications that they're degenerates with a promiscuous sex life at the start of the game, one would expect that they are just assholes who will be utterly furious at them for not dying, right? Nope, that's not the case. When the siblings go to take their money and get spotted by their mother, turns out she doesn't care if they escaped and probably still cared about them as children (if you don't view her final apologies to Andrew as a last-ditch manipulation tactic to avoid certain death). As the Extreme Doormat he is, the father was perfectly okay with them coming back as well. Too bad Ashley was dead-set on committing patricide and manipulating Andrew into setting up their deaths primarily to grab her parent's money and sacrifice their souls to the Entity so she could recharge her demonic trinket. This also makes Andrew have every reason to be pissed off at Ashley in the Decay Route where she can no longer control him that easily anymore.
  • In the Burial Route, when the siblings make a game of throwing their parent's skulls into the ocean, Andrew cheats and shoves Ashley so that she messes up her throw and, when she takes a swing at him in revenge, grabs her and pulls her into a hug that she reciprocates. It's somewhat offset by only appearing in the "Questionable" ending...
