Heartwarming / Pale

• The girls' friendship is really moving. They genuinely love and care for each other, and go out of their way to help each other out whenever they can.
• Despite their wariness of practitioners and the fact that at least some of them are the enemy, seeing the Kennet Others (especially John and Miss) come to love and respect the trio is really sweet.
• Lucy's Implement ritual involves a scenario where she's getting married. While the marriage is explicitly stated to be a political one, tying their families together, Lucy and her unnamed fiancé are very much in love, and the wedding has Verona, Avery and a plus one, Snowdrop, Jasmine and Booker, Zed, and Nicolette all in attendance.
• Cherrypop's interlude shows how much she genuinely loves Snowdrop as a friend, and how far she'll go to help her. Admittedly, what turns out to be a titanic, life-threatening struggle for Cherry wouldn't have been nearly so hard if she'd just let go of the damn rock, but still.
• Shaking Hands 9.12: after the absolute disaster with Verona and Brett, Avery and Lucy call their parents, and the Kelly's and Jasmine immediately come over to Lucy's place to help Verona out as much as they can.
• Liberty is more Avery's friend than Lucy's or Verona's, but after Anthem effectively cuts her out of the family for supporting Kennet, Lucy instantly drops everything to fight Anthem for hurting Liberty.
• In Let Slip 20.6, Charles helps out Avery and Raquel despite being at odds with the former and not knowing the latter at all.
• In Hard Pass, Avery goes missing, unable to be found by even the best augurs Lucy and Verona can pay, indicating she might be dead. The whole situation is nightmare fuel and tearjerker. In Hard Pass 22.6, however, it crosses over into Heartwarming: missing Avery, Verona draws her in the fog on a bathroom mirror, and she and Lucy talk to the reflection, expressing certainty that she is alive and that she is doing something behind the scenes. Verona even speculates that she, Lucy, and everyone else might actually just be part of a simulation used as a test as part of challenging the Aurum Coil. While that is, again, a terrifying thought, both Lucy and Verona say that if they are a simulation, they hope they're doing Avery proud.
• In Finish Off, Charles' final defeat is made possible by the very community the trio has cultivated amongst Kennet's Others and Aware calling him out on his hypocrisy, something that never could've happened had the girls chosen cynicism and discord over cooperation.
• The ending is so genuinely sweet, with everyone being in a much better place: Verona is running her travelling bookshop and giving people who need help a temporary home. Lucy is going to college with Grandfather as her familiar. And Avery is still running Paths, but Nora has Awakened and is running them with her. Kennet has become a hub of learning and commerce, and things have improved for nearly everyone. Even with a new threat on the horizon, things are so much better.
