Heartwarming / I Married My Female Friend

Go To

  • Even if it's only in the manga, the fact that same-sex marriage gets legalized in Japan in the flashback in the first chapter.
  • When Kurumi travels alone, she ends up wanting to get back as soon as possible, just so she can be with Ruriko. It's one of the first indicators that Ruriko is more than a friend to her.
  • When Kurumi visits Ruriko in the hospital, Ruriko explains that the reason why she downplayed her condition was that she didn't want to burden Kurumi. In response, Kurumi tells Ruriko that Ruriko is most important to her.
Kurumi: We might have gotten married on a bit of a whim, but I wouldn't have done this with just anyone. You're special to me, Ruriko.
  • The resolution of the washer-dryer dispute. Ruriko explains that the main reason why she was hesitant to buy the washer-dryer, apart from the issue of her paying for it(which is easily solved by just waiting to buy it) is that she doesn't want to lose the time she has doing the laundry with Kurumi. Kurumi then comes up with the idea to have Mondays be "couple's bonding days" so they spend time together.
  • The bonus chapter in Volume 2 is a flashback to Kurumi and Ruriko's high school days. Ruriko, in a different class from her friends during lunch, ends up hitting it off well with Kurumi, who's reading a book about sweets at the time. It's implied that this is what inspired Ruriko to get into baking in the first place.
Ruriko's narration: That was the day my own universe began. And that universe has been expanding ever since.
