Heartwarming / Harry Potter and the Mother Who Lived

Go To

  • While filled with exposition, the first proper chapter is about how happy Harry Potter was to have his mother living with him. Calling her his best friend growing up.
  • While Petunia and Lily could never fully be comfortable with each other, we find out via flashback that in the middle of her recovery, Lily called for Tuney's help because she needed family at the lowest point of her life and without even informing her husband, Petunia was there for her little sister. A sign of how unbreakable their bonds were even if they'd drifted apart.
  • There's some great fuzzies in having Ron Weasley meet Harry's honorary family at Christmas. With both Remus and Sirius visiting.
  • Even while she gets frustrated by the unexpected dangers of Hogwarts, Dumbledore is sure to reassure and calm Lily whenever she gets antsy about Harry's work and life around the school.
  • Cho Chang's first appearance has her winning her first Quidditch game. While slightly disappointed she couldn't wait a few minutes to ensure her house could win the Quidditch Cup too, when she gets to the afterparty, she was surrounded by celebration and honors by her housemates. And she called it one of the best days of her life.
    • She also was gracious and motivated enough that she actually paid Harry a visit, saying she wished she got a chance to play against him one day too.
  • Despite the bumps of the first year, Harry and Lily eagerly start walking to their new home in the magic world after school finishes.
  • While Ginny doesn't have a very good start of the year, it turns out she was familiar with Luna Lovegood for a while now. Even finding her comforting despite her odd nature.
  • When confronted by the Horcrux, Tom Riddle is sure to mention that with their interactions, Ginny sees Lily as the kind of witch she wants to grow up to be. A sure sign of picking a good role model for herself.
  • Even though it was still a tough year, Ginny is given hope and a proper outlook going forward. What happened happened, and now is the time to move forward.
  • In the midst of all the other houses feeling outraged at Slytherin's dirty tactics, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw come up with a unique idea for taking down their mutual enemy: join Gryffindor for practices so they can have some variety in how they practice.
  • Ginny reflecting on how even in her insecurity and nightmares, remembering how good Harry is keeps her grounded.
  • Parvati's surprising care for Harry's safety when she hears the prophecy at the end of the 3rd year. It actually led into some...interesting temporary developments the summer before Year 4.
  • Part of growing up is Ron getting some encouragement from Hermione to try being a keeper. Perhaps some fine Foreshadowing on how being together brings out the best in Ron.
  • While still slightly disappointed that she never could get Harry Potter's love, Parvati makes sure to tell Harry to go after whomever he's crushing on.
  • Hannah's shocked remorse over the unforgivable curses is harsh, but her knowing how to handle Susan's silent outrage and sadness is sweet. Bringing up choir practice as a way to get her good friend to smile again.
  • Ginny's first day of pickup Quidditch. Enjoying the thrill and excitement that she's finally able to show everyone everything that she can do. Even impressing her siblings in the process.
  • While Lily is still distraught over Harry being forced into the Triwizard Tournament, she still had several people around her who sympathize and know that Harry won't be alone without her. That even though she has to leave for work reasons, Harry will be looked after to the best of their abilities.
  • While both Parvati and Lavender are excited for the Yule Ball, Seamus asking Lavender out is the first real sweet moment we get to see of students pairing up for their first dance. In this case, two long standing crushes finally getting to act on their desires.
  • Cho's morning with Cedric is all kinds of sweet. As Cedric talks about Fleur inviting him, but he only had eyes for her. Leading to a prolonged snog.
  • The Yule Ball in this universe remains a mixed bag for everyone involved, but surprisingly, Harry and Susan end up having a very nice time together. They joined out of convenience, but this ended up being a nice bonding time with each other, with the two of them not only having a romantic moment dancing, but holding hands while the ball winds down.
  • Susan and Harry solidifying their relationship together after a date in Hogsmeade.
    • Even though Susan tried to be reserved, when she tells Hannah about it, she gets the dopiest grin in proclaiming that Harry is her boyfriend.
  • After Susan and Harry get out of the infirmary, Harry asks in code if Susan still wants to do this after she got pulled into the 2nd task. Susan's answer is a simple, "Yes." And then she kisses him full on.
    • Then in doing a walk around the castle, the two finally find a quiet corridor without other expectations, and so have a full on make out session. Susan even reflects in the middle of it all that even with all the troubles of this year, if the tournament hadn't happened, she never would've gotten a chance to date Harry.
  • Ron turns the tables on his friends when the other Gryffindor dorm mates proclaim that he now is dating Hannah Abbott. Turns out it was a build up from the 2nd task when Hannah felt attracted to Ron afterwards, and they actually fell into dating afterwards. Ron perhaps deservedly gets his moment in the spotlight from his classmates in joining the dating pool.
    • Hannah also turns out to be an enthusiastic supporter of Ron's activities. Even coming out for Quidditch practice to see Ron try to be a keeper for the first time in public.
  • Though there's a puttering of discontent underneath everything going on, the day before the 3rd task is a time for nice reunions between Parents and champions. Even Lily manages to make it to the tournament to see Harry again for the first time in months.
  • At the first reunion of the Order of the Phoenix, Lily has to admit that she's glad to see some new faces among them. As Arthur Weasley and Kingsley Shacklebolt both jumped at the chance to join.
  • At the end of the year, Susan and Harry (who had been contemplating breaking up with her) have a discussion about how things all ended, but upon seeing themselves in each other, they kiss one more time in need of each other. And after this, Harry resolves that he DEFINITELY wants to keep dating Susan as she was one of the best things to come out of this year.
  • Despite her mounting frustration at Fudge, Miranda is sure to mention to Lily that they are going to continue their silent investigation of Barty Crouch Jr even if they have to go behind Fudge's back to do so.
  • It's mentioned that when Lily asked Nymphadora to join the Order, she jumped at it enthusiastically.
  • While still frustrated by a lack of concrete news, Harry is glad that during early summer, he can at least hang out with his girlfriend.
