Heartwarming / Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock

Go To

  • The Friendship Moments between the Fraggle Five are numerous in this series. They're eccentric and sometimes Innocently Insensitive, but they're all very quick to declare their love and support for one another. If one of them has a problem, the others are always right there to be supportive.
  • Pretty much every episode contains at least one really cute moment between Doc and Sprocket. Sure, they snark at each other, but they're still very close. Highlights include:
    • After Sprocket's nose gets pinched by a crab, Doc puts on a pink heart-shaped band-aid and comforts him — not because he's injured but because she knows he loves band-aids. Also heartwarming is Sprocket and the crab making friends by episode's end, with the crab perched docilely on Sprocket's nose, and the dog bummed when he learns the crab has to return to its natural habitat.
    • Doc's just so excited to watch the baby sea turtles hatch, and while she's initially annoyed at Sprocket expressing his own excitement by howling, after a bit she decides that "I was wrong to criticize you; howling is the only way to express how exciting this is." Leading to a couple of really cute moments where she joins in on the howling — and then, when they're told off by Mrs Shimmelfinney for making too much noise, dog and owner exchange frustrated looks... and gleefully continue howling in very soft voices.
    • Doc keeps a "shero board" with pictures of accomplished women who have inspired her. At the end of one episode, Sprocket expresses his admiration for her by indicating that he wants her to hang her own picture up on the board as well. Eventually she agrees — on the condition that Sprocket (despite being a male dog) gets his picture there too.
  • The Trash Heap knits "matching spaghetti sweaters" for Philo and Gunge. They praise them as "stylish and delicious."
  • It's a minor thing, but (especially considering certain debates going on at the time) it's still really nice to hear Jamdolin address the population of Fraggle Rock as "Brothers! Sisters! Inbetwixters!" A small but important moment confirming that non-binaries and people with different gender identities are valid and accepted in Fraggle Rock. Some of the puppeteers themselves identify as non-binary.
  • Travelling Matt bonding with a friendly Doberman Pinscher in one of his segments.
  • A social-media video for Friendship Day 2022, in which Gobo reads a special poem for all his friends, including the viewer.
Gobo: Red is my friend,/Wembley is too./So are Mokey and Boober,/And then there's... YOU! Oh, I'm so glad you're my friend, Silly Creature.
  • Travelling Matt observing people celebrating Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and Diwali in "The Night of the Lights." He assumes the Silly Creatures are all celebrating the Fraggle holiday in different ways - a clever way of espousing harmony and unity between differing racial and faith traditions while acknowledging the diversity thereof.
  • The "Yule Log" the Henson Company created for the 2022 holiday season for streaming on YouTube, tying in with the release of "The Night of the Lights." As Sprocket (in his costume from the episode, reindeer antlers and all) sleeps by the fireside, other characters make periodic appearances. Gobo wanders in and gasps at the beauty of the holiday decorations (which include a Christmas tree, a Chanukah menorah, and Kwanzaa candles), before turning to the viewer and saying, "Happy Night of the Lights, everybody!" He accidentally wakes up Sprocket a few times (including yelling "Hey!" after Sprocket hums a little of "Jingle Bells" in his sleep), but manages to get away without being noticed. Travelling Matt and several Doozers also appear at various points.
