The initial reunion between Sansa and Jon Snow is a cold one. In addition to their ambivalent feelings towards one another as children, a grown up Sansa reminds Jon of Catelyn Stark and Sansa believes he will take power in the North for himself. But Jon goes against Sansa's expectations and to his surprise she becomes his strongest supporter. She even gifts him a weirwood cane for his injury taken in the Battle of the Snows. Later it saves his life.
He took the cane gratefully. Jon smiled softly. “I’m really glad you’re home, Sansa.”
She smiled too. There was a pause, an uncertain hesitation, but then she reached in closer for an embrace. They hugged for the very first time that Jon could remember.
The end of chapter 36. Jon Snow finds Bran. The moment is stirring in particular because it happens after several agonizing and sleepless days of Jon doing whatever he can just to keep a fragile peace together in the immediate aftermath of The Battle of the Snows.
