Compass of thy Soul

Chapter 1
  • The first scene, where 3-years-old Kita thinks about her new family, is basically filled with Cuteness Overload. A big difference from the usual angsty SI-OC found in Naruto fandom.
  • Niniji-sama and Naka-sama thanking Kita for raising alarm during a Senju raid and, indirectly, saving their son Hijiri's life.
  • Just the simple fact that almost all of Kita's seals have been made with civilian applications in mind, such as the sterilization seal she has stitched onto bandages.
  • Kita gifting a prematurely born Benten with a seal-covered patchwork blanket. It's the reason the baby girl survived a harsh winter.

Chapter 2

  • Madara's first reaction to learning about his betrothal? He decides that he should get to know Kita better.
    • He immediately notes her name when mentioned by an Elder, since they weren't introduced to each other before.
    • His decision to take better care of his clan coat since she obviously worked very hard to make the pattern.
  • The fact that arranged marriages in Uchiha clan have a clause if a person falls in love with someone else.
  • Izuna knowing Kita since she was one of Yahiko's friends.
  • Minami gifting her daughter with her best kimono and obi after the betrothal, in preparation for Kita moving out.
  • Kita and Madara's meeting after their betrothal is akwardly adorable.
    • It ends with her teaching him (and Izuna) how to conceal chakra.
  • In a pseudo-Japanese society the fact that Kita writes with left hand and no one really remarks upon it is this.
  • Madara trying to make Kita welcome in his life, mostly by taking interest in her hobbies and gifting her things that she may need in her new house.
Madara: I want you to be part of my family.

Chapter 3

  • Madara and Kita discussing their dreams about peace, and Kita helping him turn those ideas into reality.
    • When she's left in charge of the clan, she manages to bring in new opportunities for civilians, including providing widows and orphans with a stable source of income.
  • Ohabari and Tsuyoshi's courtship, even if it's pretty low key. They are married by the end of the chapter.
  • Tajima, out of all people, helping Madara find a present for Kita's birthday.
    • Madara gifts her yunomi a.k.a. husband-and-wife teacups and a teapot. She immediately brews them tea.
    • Hikaku, Hijiri and Hidaka give her a set of hair combs for each season.
    • Her father and sister visit, giving her, among others, lot of dyed and metal thread for her own clothes.
  • For his birthday, Kita gives Madara a hilt tape and cord from the wild silk she braided herself.
  • Madara falling asleep on Kita after a long and stressful mission, and her being prepared to stay like that for the whole night so she doesn't wake him up.
    • Hikaku helps Kita out... and then it turns out that Madara sleepwalks, leading to Kita waking up with him curled up next to her.

Chapter 4

  • Izuna teasing Kita about Madara's sleepwalking habits... and promising not to bother him while he's stressing about the funerals.
  • Any scene where Madara and Kita are spending time with each other, since they just so adorable together.
  • Madara being so happy because Kita decided to embroider one of his hawks on her obi.
  • Kita having some girl-time with her female cousins and friends.
  • Kita calmly listening when Madara needs to rant about Hashirama's everything, helping him work through his issues with the Senju boy.
  • The Minister of Sericulture complimenting Kita's self-made obi and, indirectly, her desire to provide support for widows of her clan.
    • She also apparently charmed Murasaki-sama, the daimyo's wife, during her time at the court.

Chapter 5

  • Kita and Izuna's banter is both this and hilarious.
    • As is Izuna teasing Madara about Kita.
  • Kita taking care of Madara when he shows up in her house without notice in the middle of night, helping him take off the armour and finding him clothes.
    • Later Madara actually moves in with her, at least until Tajima orders him back into the Clan Hall... and tells him to bring Kita, too.
  • Kita taking Benten with her when she moves out. It's clear that she treats the girl like a daughter and Benten looks up to her.
  • Hikaku and Yori hooking up. She even moves in with him to help with his brothers, after Kita has to leave. They get married before long.
  • Tateshina helping Midori get lessons in housework from Kita. Even if they no longer live together, the sisters clearly care for each other.
    • Kita taking in Midori when she decides to leave their parents' house.
  • Just seeing how much the situation of widows and orphans has improved thanks to Kita's ideas and projects.

Chapter 6

  • Madara deciding to trust Kita's judgement and support her during their stay in the capital, despite being worried that she's underestimating the danger.
  • Kita helping Madara get up-to-date with everything that she knows about the court from her last visit. She doesn't want him to be unprepared.
  • Kita giving Madara a kimono and an obi that she made herself. Lot of blushing everywhere, but they both are so happy.
  • Kita and Izuna playing and spending time with heirs from Akimichi, Yamanaka and Nara clans. It's good that they have an opportunity to act their age and just be kids.
  • Madara helping Kita deal with the Minister of Ceramics during a tea ceremony.
    • Tajima complementing Kita on how she handled that meeting.
  • Madara shielding Kita from Hashirama's chakra and being offended on her behalf.
  • Izuna and Madara using their sharingan during the leaf viewing. Because it's important to have good memories to balance the bad ones.
  • Madara realising that his and Kita's plans are working and the other clans are getting interested in more peaceful pursuits.

Chapter 7

  • The beginnings of friendship between Kita and various shinobi noblewomen during the festival.
  • The tea ceremony is both this and Awesome.
    • Tajima instantly agreeing once Kita explains her reasoning and going to deliver the invitation personally right away.
    • Madara explaining to Izuna Kita's reasoning and securing his compliance. He might not be any happier but he will support his betrothed, come hell or high water.
    • Madara also helps Kita by taking her of her other duties while she prepares everything for the tea ceremony.
    • The tea ceremony going flawlessly. Even if they had a rigidly formal structure to adhere to, it's still good to see that the Uchiha brothers can get along with Tobirama.
      Peace is possible!
  • Madara agreeing to go with Kita to the tea with Murasaki-sama just to support her during an emotionally trying moment.
  • In her own way, Murasaki-sama's attempts to keep Kita in the court. She likes the girl and enjoys her company, and wants to repay her for the gift of silk in the way she considers the best.
    • The fact that once she understand Kita's desire to just go home, she makes it happen the next day.

  • Kita's coming-of-age ceremony. Highlights include a flustered Madara forgetting his part in the ceremony, an amused Ohabari-oba, the Big Damn Kiss and the entire clan cheering for them.
  • Kita and Madara finally getting married.

Chapter 9

  • Madara's determination to save Izuna's live and Kita immediately dropping everything to help and make that happen.
    • Kita reminding Madara that Izuna's consent is important too.
  • There is a bit of low-key moment as narration mention Ohabari helping to convince the Elders to a truce and hostage exchange.
  • Kita asking Madara about the village he has envisioned with Hashirama as kids.
    • Kita and Madara redesigning the old idea to account for all changes, to better reflect their desire for peace and make it more likely for daimyo and other clans to agree to it.
[Madara] likes this new version even more than the one he came up with alongside Hashirama as a child; Kita's suggestions make the whole project feel so much more achievable than he's ever hoped would be possible.
