Heartwarming / A Nero Wolfe Mystery

Go To

  • The ending of Over My Dead Body, when Wolfe basically offers to support the woman now revealed to be his adoptive daughter in typical blustery, awkward style.
  • In one episode Wolfe and Archie are forced to hide out in Saul Panzer's apartment for a few hours and Saul is shown taking great care to prepare some food for Wolfe, who accepts it graciously and compliments Saul despite the food being rather simple compared to Wolfe's usual gourmet fare. He also comments approvingly on Saul's rather simple, humble apartment.
  • The final shot of Poison A La Carte, in which a murder occurs at a dinner where Archie and Wolfe were guests and Fritz was the head chef. Fritz is upset the whole episode that he presided over a dinner where a guest was served poison. The episode ends with Wolfe and Fritz in the kitchen. Wolfe pulls out a chair at the kitchen table for Fritz, pours him a glass of wine, and fetches himself a beer, and they drink in silence. Not for nothing does Wolfe refer to Fritz in this episode as "one of his most valued friends."
  • The Happily Married Mr. And Mrs. Perez softly dancing together at the end of Too Many Clients is sweet after all the hardship and loss they have endured throughout the episode.
  • Wolfe's warm attitude towards the dog Bootsy, whom he renames "Jet," in "Die Like a Dog" comes as a surprise to Archie, and to the audience as well.
