    The Bloodstone's powers
  • Verussa describes the amulet as having the power to weaken monsters, certainly a valuable tool to a hunter. And we do see that the stone appears to limit Ted's abilities until it is removed. Why then, does she decide to use the stone to force Jack to transform into a much more powerful (and therefore dangerous) state, essentially in contradiction of both the stone's stated purpose and her own? The notion she is doing it confirm Jack's monstrous nature, or as a way punish Elsa, seems flimsy in the face of the risk involved.
    • Spite is a hell of a drug. The primary reason for transforming Jack was to have him kill Elsa while maintaining Verussa's "clean hands"; as Jack points out to them, if they just wanted him dead, it'd be faster & easier to kill him in human form.
    • The stone can do a lot of things (Verussa rattles off a few when she first chats with Elsa). Verussa also isn't the sharpest tool in the shed and her actions towards the latter half are motivated chiefly by a mix of raging Fantastic Racism and the aforementioned spite. It is to be noted we get no clear indication that Verussa is a particularly good hunter (or wielder of the Bloodstone), she was just married to the guy who was.
    • Elsa points out to Jack that the two of them are locked in the same cage for a reason. Verussa wants Elsa to be forced to fight him in werewolf form. Either Elsa is forced to kill a man she appears to like enough to be a temporary ally or she gets killed by Jack. It's a win-win scenario for Verussa, since even if Elsa doesn't die, she'll get to hurt her anyway. If Jack killed Elsa then she was likely confident that the hunters surrounding the cage, as well as the Bloodstone would be enough to take care of him afterwards.
    • She vastly underestimated his power. The idea is to reveal him for the monster he is as fuel for this cult.

    Wrong person for each task
  • After unlocking the door, Elsa's plan is for Jack to go blow a hole in the wall, while she goes to fetch Ted. But isn't this exactly the wrong person for each task? Elsa knows the way around the labyrinth, and she knows how to operate the explosive. Meanwhile, Jack is Ted's friend and he's by far the better choice to go meet him.
