Headscratchers / Vast Error

  • If trolls are supposed to be bound to a matesprit or kismesis forever, face withdrawal symptoms when away from their parter(s) for a prolonged amount of time, and live in a world where it's incredibly taboo or even impossible to recouple after the end of a relationship, then how do highbloods, whose lifespans can be hundreds or even thousands of years longer than those of lowbloods, function in this society? It has been shown that highbloods are willing to enter relationships with lowbloods, as seen with Murrit and Dismas, but the disparity between their natural lifespans would leave Murrit a widower within just a couple dozen sweeps at best if they had lived normal lives on Repiton.
    • In Occeus' route in Snowbound Blood, Occeus mentions that the life expectancy of trolls post-renaissance is between "twenty-eight and fifty-five sweeps."
