Headscratchers / The Descent Part 2

Go To

  • The cavers are supposedly following Sarah's route of escape from the cave. If so, why are there no tracks (and massive amounts of cobwebs to brush away), and why did Sarah bother to nail up authentic old "Keep Out" signs behind her?
    • She got flushed out of the cave system through an underground stream that lead into the river. The dog only picks up her scent until the river. He probably picked up another scent which lead him to the elevator shaft. It's all in the movie.
  • Why was the partially eaten body of the one girl left by the entrance? We already know that the Crawlers drag off their food to store it in a more convenient location.
    • Not always, remember the half eaten deer/moose before they go into the cave from the first movie?
  • Why, upon suddenly remembering the events of the first movie, does Sarah run deeper into the caves, despite there being nothing preventing her from leaving the way they'd come?
    • There was a cave in, and the way they came in had been blocked off.
      • The cave-in only happened after she remembered, attacked the sheriff and Greg, and ran further in (leading the sheriff to chasing her and discharging his gun.) Most plausible explanation was simply temporary insanity from the trauma.
  • How on earth did Juno survive the ending of Part 1? She was severely wounded by the pick axe and outnumbered at least 5:1. She was screaming at the top of her lungs as Sarah escaped, so she couldn't have done it by stealth.
  • What was the mine operator's deal? It's implied he's feeding the creatures, but what does he gain from that? His backstory simply states his grandfather dissapeared exploring a cave connected to the mine, implying the creatures killed his grandfather, so if anything, wouldn't he want the creatures dead more than anyone else? Is it a Riddle for the Ages?
