Headscratchers / Scooby-Doo: Camp Scare

• Why couldn't Boretti and Knudsen just wait a month or two until the fall when all of the campers and staff had gone home to blow up the dam and then try for the treasure during the next summer solstice?
  • Wouldn't blowing up the dam attract too much attention from the camps? Presumably they intended to blow up the dam, find the treasure, and run to prevent getting caught.
• Why is Knudsen, a forest ranger, investigating everything instead of a sheriff? There are in fact plenty of local cops as evidenced by their showing up to arrest the bad guys at the end.
• How did Ricky LaRue bury his treasure inside of the town he would have been the subject of a manhunt.
• Why did Knudsen and Baby Face care about finding the lost town with stolen sonar equipment and a fisherman costume when it would be easy to find once they blew up the lake?
  • Probably to make sure that the town of Moose Creek was still standing and the scepter could show them the way, before going through with their plan to blow up the dam?
• Was the Specter that chased them through the canyon real or not? On one hand, the Post-Credits Scene shows the Specter as Real After All,and it would have been hard for a person in a costume to survive the falling cliff. On the other hand, Knudsen seems to give an affirmative response when Velma suggests that a search of his ranger station will turn up a specter costume.
• Is Baby-face Boretti meant to be Ricky LaRue's getaway driver? They seem to be about the same height, and it would explain why the getaway driver never dug up the money, but Baby-face doesn't seem old enough.
• If the culprits were trying to scare everyone away so no one would be drowned when they blew the dam, that suggests that they don't want to kill anyone, but if that's the case then why did the Fish-Man nearly drown Daphne and Fred?
