Headscratchers / Run Sweetheart Run

  • If Ethan only lives at night and cannot survive sunlight, what place does he need to hide? Maybe his house? If so, maybe he needs to hide in the main hall (without windows)?
  • What exactly is Ethan? The vulnerability to sunlight suggests he is a vampire, but holy water and crosses don't affect him. He hates dogs and it's mutual. We don't witness his monstrous transformation, but we do hear plenty of growling and we see Cherie's terrified reaction. Cherie describes him as a monster.
    • He shows Monster Misogyny, judging by the multiple "Missing" posters. For hunting, he only picks women, and enjoys terrorizing them, not just killing them. He will certainly kill men and women who interfere with his hunt, but he doesn't drag it out.
    • The two most likely options, if he's meant to be a recognizable demon/monster trope type, are an artistic-lisence version of a vampire, or an Incubus (aka a male version of a succubus).
  • How different is the version of the movie that was shown at Sundance than the one that was released on Prime Video? I heard there were some reshoots. If that’s true, why were there reshoots?
    • Some accounts say the original version explicitly implies/states that Ethan was tracking Cherie exclusively through her period blood, rather than just her blood in general. It was likely changed since most audiences had a negative reaction to the twist (most calling it needlessly on the nose), and the movie still makes sense if he can smell all of her blood.
    • Can anyone prove that there were reshoots?
