Headscratchers / Case File nº221: Kabukicho

• In "The Thread Where We Talk About Yeast", Watson first appears with significant stubble while he's depressed about the apparent death of Moriarty. He also has a hole in his left pants leg above the knee and a bandage visible underneath, from a bullet wound he sustained much earlier. He still appears that way in "Everybody Be There At Eight" while walking in an alleyway away from the Pipe Cat, where he notices the Irregulars talking and gets a lead on where to go next. Somehow, after saying "Moriarty" followed by a cut that skips the rest of his trip to the Moran mansion, he shaves off the stubble and gets his pants seamlessly repaired or replaced with an exact duplicate. He briefly rubs his now clean-shaven chin before entering the mansion's gates to (subtly?) call attention to this change. While it's supposed to be a significant adjustment back to normal for the character, and showing it graphically makes some sense, it's an odd thing to take time out to do while tracking down the on-the-loose Sherlock.
