• Just how would Arlo have exposed Ansel's bird heritage, considering Arlo displays no visible bird heritage?
• Considering that Arlo is a half-alligator with no avian traits despite his father being a harpy-like creature, it can be assumed that genetics in this world is much less straightforward than it is in ours. Perhaps whether someone is an animal hybrid (regardless of the animal) is decided by parentage. With this assumption, even the fact that Arlo is a half-human would be a dead giveaway that one of his parents must be as well. Everyone around would naturally assume it to be Ansel, if only because he’s the only one of Arlo’s parents in the picture.
  • It also doesn’t help that Arlo is much less human-passing than his father (whose biggest bird features are his wings and legs, while Arlo is practically a bipedal alligator with hair and human proportions). It’s not something that Ansel could hide easily without isolating Arlo from everyone.
