Though ROM is a serious, dramatic series, it isn't without its moments of levity.
- In general, Rom's incredibly hammy dialogue — which reads as if it was torn straight from a Bronze Age comic book — can be incredibly funny when it's contrasted with the more naturalistic dialogue of the human characters.
- From issue 10, the entire scene with the Space Knights meeting the humans, including Livia playing along with the humans' beliefs that they're Autobots for the sake of annoying Orphion.
- The "Space Rom-ance" cover to issue 11, seen above, that interprets the series as a trashy romance novel.
