  • The Earl of Demise gets assigned to write Ryou's history report, and the only thing he took out of the French Revolution was that the guillotine took all the artistry out of decapitation.
  • This exchange when Ryou finds the Millennium Eye in his mouthwash.
"Why is Pegasus's eye in my mouthwash?"
The spirit manifested on the opposite side of the bottle, the contents tinting and refracting its expression. "You'd stopped using the stuff."
"You know very well that isn't what I meant! Why is it here at all?"
"You might have noticed that it isn't in your face."
  • Ryou is British like in the dub, and loves fairy cakes, Doctor Who, tea, and other stereotypical British things. Because he's Yami Bakura's host the spirit grows to like them too, becoming a particular fan of marshmallow fluff and horror movies.
  • When Yugi and his friends discuss the Ring, Ryou gives Bakura an epic burn.
"Anyway, the Ring's in my closet, remember?" said Yugi. "It can't do anything to him from in there."
The spirit sighed loudly inside Bakura's head. "And by such towering intellects am I thwarted."
Says a fair bit about you, doesn't it?
  • Yami Bakura's imitation of Marik's voice is described as "a cantankerous Muppet with a head cold."
  • Zorc's second head and Diabound's generally phallic design are made fun of, with Ryou wondering how Zorc could even walk.
  • This exchange when Ryou asks Yami Bakura what he wants is darkly funny.
He gave it a wary look. "What do you want?"
"The rest of the Millennium Items, and the pharaoh screaming for mercy as I eviscerate him with my teeth."
"That's completely horrible. And those are my teeth."
  • Yami Bakura notes that Yugi got rid of Dartz, with "winning card games and shouting about friendship turning out to be yet another mastermind's fatal weakness."
  • After realizing Bakura wasn't kidding about fooling around with Marik, Ryou takes a shower with his clothes on, wishes to scrub himself with steel wool, and vows to make tea with bleach in it. Yami Bakura rebuffs the latter by scoffing he'd never ruin the tea.
    • Even funnier is when he initially doesn't believe Bakura and calls Marik on the phone to confirm it... and, due to time zone differences, Marik is very annoyed at being woken up in the middle of the night.
  • Ryou tries to talk Yami Bakura out of destroying the world by pointing out if he does there won't be any more TV or marshmallow fluff.
  • Ryou tries to enter Bakura's soul room and is stalled by the need for a password. This happens.
"What's the password?" boomed the spirit's voice, layered with echoes in a dozen different pitches.
Bakura squinted at the bright pattern left by his knuckles, then used his forefinger to write beneath it, "OPEN SESAME."
The spirit made a noise like a quiz-show buzzer.
    Scowling, he appended, "YOU GIT."
  • In the post-series chapter, Yami Bakura's reaction to just about everything is initially funny, from being surprised at Ryou being in Minnesota to not knowing what a barista is.
