• The Series 4 premiere's Cold Open shows Sidney Chambers chasing a perp, and Geordie chasing Sidney to try in vain to get him to back off, to Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally". The scene starts and ends with a reference to Elvis Presley—specifically, the fact that his first name just so happens to rhyme with "pelvis".
• The final scene of Series 4 features Geordie teasing Will over his vow of abstinence and what it will mean for his budding relationship with a schoolteacher. Will tries to maintain his decorum, but Geordie keeps throwing out bawdy hypotheticals to see where the vicar will draw the line.
