In "Drawn Together", the pad is used to draw Jay to somewhere far, far away, and he isn't heard from for a whole day (maybe two). The only drawback of Jay being missing shown is that Zeke misses his friend, but imagine how Mr. and Mrs. Fritter must have felt when their kid didn't come home for such a long period of time. Not helping is that no one else seems to be concerned and there is no involvement from the authorities.
Of course, it's slightly negated by the fact that Jay actually ended up at a beach display in a grocery store.
