  • The spelling of Logainne's name- spelt Logainne, pronounced Logan- is an overcomplicated way to spell a simple name. This foreshadows her elimination, in which she overcomplicates the simple word 'vug'.
  • Why does Olive tell Barfee that swapping the first two vowels in her name spells “I love”? Because she’s trying to convince him that it’s a good name, and for a little girl obsessed with anagrams and desperate for affection from her parents, the fact that the name they gave her can be rearranged into a message of love is probably the most interesting thing about it.
