Fridge Brilliance:

  • What linked Yasper to being the killer:
    • Yasper's full name, Yasper Lennov, is an anagram for "Personal Envy", which proves to be fitting after the finale reveals him as the killer and his motive of jealousy.
    • The predominant color in his outfit is also green, the color of envy.
    • All the details that Danner and Aniq point out as leading to his guilt are actually noticeable over the course of the series. Even in the shower, where for a split-second, you can see Yasper holding two phones together as he steals Xavier's recordings.
    • Yasper being the killer was subtly foreshadowed (intentionally or otherwise) in the opening credits when three of his silhouettes are dancing on top of piano keys, which promptly fall apart… just as his story fell apart under closer scrutiny.
    • A subtler clue can be found in the show's very format: every mental movie is meant to represent something that really happened. And indeed, despite the various exaggerations and half-truths, every event in the other testimonies is perfectly plausible. But Yasper's? There is no way the cast could've broken into perfectly choreographed song and dance the way they did in his mental movie—a clear sign that he's stretching the truth more than anyone else.
    • His song "Two Shots", which is mostly about how self-deluding he is about his life, contains a Dumbass Has a Point lyric about how a little band called the Quarrymen who found no success later became massive after they had rebranded themselves as The Beatles. This also foreshadows his motive; he is The Pete Best to Xavier, who went on to huge success without him. The actual Pete Best was the original drummer for the Beatles, only to be fired shortly before they made it big.
  • Looking back at the various testimonies, it's likely that Danner knew who the killer was immediately after Chelsea's interview. She figured out he came from the closet after Aniq, Brett, and Chelsea's testimonies, knew that he lied about where he was in the living room after Indigo's, Chelsea's, and Aniq's, and, looking back, pulled everything apart as soon as she rethought Yasper's testimony. The rest of the night was simply to eliminate any potential accomplices and keep the party guessing before making a grand, dramatic reveal.
    • It was also likely to give them some time to find some actual evidence they could use to convict him.

Fridge Horror:

  • Yasper trying to implicate Brett as the killer becomes horrifying in hindsight after he's revealed as the killer. Not only was he going as far as to put an innocent man in prison, but he would've also robbed Maggie of a supportive and doting parent.
    • Despite his claims of genuine friendship, he probably would've done more harm than good for Aniq if he successfully framed Brett, as Aniq would've been too guilty to talk to Zoe again and she, in turn, would probably be too torn up over her ex and the father of her child getting falsely imprisoned.
    • Him encouraging Chelsea to follow her goals might also have some sinister connotations, as he likely assumed that she was heading to the afterparty to confront Xavier. By pushing her to follow through with that, he might've been trying to set her up as another potential fall guy.
  • With Germain's corrupt past explored in Danner's episode, his capture of the Tar Pit Strangler can be seen in a rather chilling light, as it's possible that he simply arrested the first person who seemed suspicious enough to fit the bill. Which means whoever the Strangler is, they could still be out there...
