On leave at Terra Station, Matt and Tex want to go meet some girls, while Oscar wants to get some civilized food. After an argument over this drags on long enough, Tex gets hungry and switches sides, and Matt gives in to the majority, which you'd think Oz should have done in the first place. Much later in the book, they're on Venus, where Oz is from, and Oscar explains something about the pacifistic Venerians: that they are great debaters. "They don't fight. They just argue until someone gives in." Looks like it rubbed off on him.
