Fridge / Game of Thrones S7E1: "Dragonstone"

Fridge Brilliance

  • Jon's mercy to the Umbers and Karstarks make perfect sense, he refuses to punish children for the Sins of Our Fathers, not just because of the fact that he considers the traitors to already be dead, but because he suffered from this trope growing up. Most notably Catelyn, though likely also others, treated him with hatred and disdain, not due to his actions, he was and still is one of the few good men in the show, but because of his parentage. Like many bastards, he was punished for something his father did, that he had no control over, so he is unlikely to inflict it on someone else.

Fridge Horror

  • Sam is one of the most intellectual and least physical characters of the series. Making him do all the manual menial gross labor must have been extra torture for someone as brainy as he was.

Fridge Logic

  • Just how long has Dragonstone been left completely abandoned for? It's only a few days' sail from King's Landing, and Stannis' army departed months ago. It seems extremely negligent that the Crown made no attempt to retake it, or at the very least investigate, having learned more than two seasons(!) prior that Stannis had taken his army North.
