Fridge Brilliance

  • The reveal that Mark Beaks is not actually B.O.Y.D.'s creator should come as no surprise, because since when does Beaks actually create anything?
    • This also makes sense when you remember how B.O.Y.D., in his first appearance, showed he was able to shoot lasers from his eyes. Someone as Brilliant, but Lazy as Mark Beaks wouldn't bother putting in the effort to install something that advanced into B.O.Y.D. if all he was going to do was use him to get more followers on social media and a bag of gold from Doofus' party.
    • The further revelation that Gyro was the original inventor of B.O.Y.D. reinforces the fact that every technological breakthrough Beaks seems to come up with is just stolen from Gyro (as was demonstrated in previous episodes, particularly "Beware the Buddy System!").
  • The compulsion to hug people, like Doofus and Mark Beaks, B.O.Y.D. shows is learned behavior from Gyro: In their first interaction, Gyro gave 2BO a hug after confirming he was a real boy.
  • Now we know why Gyro treats Fenton the way he does; he sees his younger self in the younger scientist, and wants to squash out that naivete so he doesn't get hurt like Gyro was in the past. Either that or he hates his past naivety and seeing it in Fenton irritates him.
  • It would be considered counterproductive for Akita to have intentionally made B.O.Y.D. go the rampage that discredited him as a scientist and forced him into hiding for twenty years; it seems more likely that B.O.Y.D. genuinely did go out of control as a result of Akita's reprogramming being so in conflict with what the robot was made for (protecting Tokyolk) and wanted to be (a real boy). The internal contradictions thus caused malfunctions.
    • Akita was only discredited and forced into hiding because Inspector Tezuka managed to stop B.O.Y.D.'s rampage. Obviously, he didn't plan on that happening. If he had succeeded in taking over the world, it wouldn't have been an issue.
  • The revelation that Gyro's first ever invention turned evil because of Akita's tampering explains why Gyro continually insists that his inventions are misunderstood, but still go evil; all this time he's been trying to make good machines, but the method of which he was taught was to make evil ones. Due to Akita's bad influence and maliciously-inclined inventions, Gyro has been using knowledge that was tainted from the start, but since he has no way of knowing that, he's been blaming himself for the evil technology instead.
  • Gyro being an anti-social recluse is likely due to the very public incident in Tokyolk. Given that the board of directors had no problem calling his inventions evil (and almost certainly knew it was probably a sore spot for him), it's likely that he's not welcomed by many. This also explains why he only treats friends and family of Scrooge with any sort of kindness or excitement; they're the only ones who look past his past (it's probably also why he was sad when Scrooge said he was just a work acquaintance; Scrooge might be the closest thing he has to a friend).
  • Being an homage to Osamu Tezuka's Astroboy, it makes sense that Inspector Tezuka would have such an hostile attitude towards B.O.Y.D. despite finally realizing he'd become a nice, good boy. This kind of character appears constantly on Astroboy's adventures; an authority figure who's honestly dedicated to protect people but, because of the actions of some dangerous robots, is terribly prejudiced against robots in general even after being proved more than once than a particular robot is genuinely heroic.
  • The incident with Dr. Akita and 2BO might explain why Gyro built the time tub. When you make a horrible mistake or simply have such a bad moment you'll wish for it to be undone and what better way than time travel?
    • Going back in time to prevent 2BO's ramage would've created a paradox, however, which would be the most likely reason his time tub allegedly "went evil".
  • Of course Huey would side with B.O.Y.D. all the way. Both are sticklers to the rules who on the inside, want to be seen as normal kids. Huey literally sees himself in him.
    • Not to mention, Huey recently re-dedicated himself to the oaths and ethos of the Junior Woodchucks. Most especially those relating to helping and not abandoning your fellow Woodchucks.
  • Dr. Akita trying to break Gyro by saying he will never make something worthwhile, only to immediately be taken out by Lil' Bulb, one of Gyro's inventions. It works on two levels because not only has Lil' Bulb been a handy help in the series, but the one occasion where he turned evil, he then became good again! Much like B.O.Y.D. himself here!
  • Cats are known to be attracted to sources of heat, like laptops. Being a machine, B.O.Y.D. most likely generates plenty of heat himself, which is how he got all those cats crawling on him in the Tokyolk pet shop.

Fridge Horror

  • Judging by how dead-set Inspector Tezuka is on bringing Gyro and B.O.Y.D. into custody as soon as she realizes their presence in her city and how Gyro bitterly considers the catastrophe caused by his first major invention going haywire the worst failure of his career, one can only imagine how many innocent people were injured or killed by 2BO's rampage to make those two look back at that ordeal with such bitterness.
  • Back when he first found B.O.Y.D., Beaks only saw him as tool he could exploit to get himself more likes on social media by having B.O.Y.D. pretend to be his son. Given how last season showed he was willing to kill Fenton/Gizmoduck if he had the means to do so and this episode showing B.O.Y.D. being strong enough to nearly do just that, it's probably for the best that Beaks never found out what B.O.Y.D. was made for before he ended up in that landfill.
