While the idea of Real World time moving slower than Digital World time is nothing new for the franchise, it especially makes sense in this game. The V-Pet system that the Tamers all played in the Real World relies on Digimon lifespans that last for a few days. But in the Digital World, outside of Takuto/Shiki's partners (who are explicitly bizarre outliers in several ways), real Digimon live much, much longer than that. And we later learn that the V-pets do affect their actual Digimon counterparts .e. the stuff Luche went through becasue Shoma modded and then threw away his V-pet. So, the V-pet lifespans do correlate to the lifespans of the Digital World's Digimon... after you factor in the time difference.
