Harry Potter Alternate Universe Fanfic in which Dumbledore actually acts as the sensible and professional educator he's supposed to be when first meeting Tom Riddle.
Tropes Present In This Work:
- Artistic License – Economics: Subverted. When Dumbledore gives a 100 pounds donation to the Wool's Orphanage which, due to inflation, would be the equivalent of 5000 pounds on today's money. Mrs. Cole's atonished reaction is thus understandable.
- Great Offscreen War: Played with. The fic starts in 1938, just a year before the start of the Second World War as well the rise of Grindelwald in the Wizarding World.
- Reasonable Authority Figure: Dumbledore.
- Troubling Unchildlike Behavior: Tom Riddle. Dumbledore is understanbly creeped out by this, but decides to act responsibly by guiding the troubled child rather than act callously like he did in canon.
