Ike's Buff Problem [1]
is a Super Smash Bros. fanfiction by The Unspoken Prophet revolving around the various misadventures of Ike and his "friends" during the fourth Smash Bros Tournament. However, due to his muscular redesign in the game, Ike suffers from "Sudden Buffness Brainpower Loss", or SBBL, making his intelligence practically sub-zero. The many, many problems this causes are the driving force of the plot, though there are hints there might be something more sinister in play.
This fic provides examples of:
- Berserk Button: Do not get between Ike and his chicken.
- Or call Dark Pit Pittoo.
- Brainwashed: Pit is converted into one of the Villager's mindless followers after being sent to his realm by accident. Dark Pit suffers the effects of it as well.
- Dumb Muscle: The crux of Ike's entire character. Doctor Mario mentions that Little Mac was once this as well while also suffering from SBBL.
- Exactly What It Says on the Tin: Many of the chapters have names that sum up what happens in them, such as "What They Did While They Had No Power", which recounts the characters' exploits during a power outage.
- Gender Bender: Robin is able to change between his/her male and female forms, though they seem to be separate entities from different realities, judging by the fact that the male one is married to Tiki and the female to Chrom.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: Marth uses rather odd swears, such as "fudge nuts" and "heckies". However, Dark Pit's swears are uncensored.
- Trademark Favorite Food: Ike has quite a thing for chicken, to the point of it being one of the few things he can focus on.
- While not necessarily a food, Robin's Five-Hour Energy and later Infinite-Hour Energy is his/her trademark weapon.
- Verbal Tic: Captain Falcon has a tendancy to put "FALCON" in front of everything he says.
