is an Alternate Universe Fic made by munchmuffins set in the Medieval Fantasy universe from the third anime ending / second popularity poll of My Hero Academia.
Fanworks set in a similar universe are prevalent within the fandom community and may feature more characters from the show, but this one focuses primarily on the relationship between the dragon king Bakugou Katsuki and the shapeshifter dragon Kirishima Eijirou after having both of their kinds killed off in a fire. They were left as the only survivors and they have to work together to overcome the sense of guilt and loneliness that comes with their extinction.
As the name implies, this is not a happy piece of fiction.
This is the first story of the Two Kings and a Dragon trilogy. The series continues its story with the sequel Stand By Me (Till You're Home Again) and an upcoming final installment which has been reported to still be in progress.

- A Child Shall Lead Them: Bakugou started out as a king in the story. His reign didn't last long.
- Bodyguard Crush: Kirishima to Bakugou.
- Chekhov's Gunman: Todoroki only has one scene in the first story, and yet he is hinted to have more to do with the massacre than he is letting on.
- Flashback Nightmare: Happens often enough that you wish these people would get a good night sleep once in a while.
- Interspecies Romance: Between Bakugou and Kirishima, eventually.
- Leave No Survivors: The true intention of the massacre is to erase all dragons and the tribes related to them.
- Love at First Sight: Justified, because Kirishima's nature as a dragon is attracted to Bakugou's strength, which is something dragons are able to see once they look at someone in the eyes.
- Medieval Fantasy: Set in the same setting as the fantasy alternate universe of My Hero Academia
- Our Dragons Are Different: Shapeshifter dragons are thought to be extinct until Kirishima showed up. They are described to recognize strength in people's eyes and talk in both ancient and common tongue, but are also easily scared of fire.
- Tomato in the Mirror: Oh, Kirishima...
- Trauma Conga Line: All of these characters need to catch a break.
- Bakugou has lost his tribe as well as his family to the genocide, took it upon himself to deal with his guilt and emerged to go on a quest to find a dragon to prove to himself that he is still a king. Considering that the dragons are thought to be dead, it meant that he was setting himself up for a neverending search that would take a lifetime.
- Kirishima escaped the tribe that captured him to be a gift for the king, only to find out that the tribe has been destroyed and believed no one had survived, then vows to protect the only person who escaped the massacre only to find out that he was the main reason why the kingdom initiated the massacre. He then sacrifices his human soul to revive Bakugou, which left him without his human memories as he's forced to live in his dragon form.
- Something happened to the witches that forced them to live in another realm when they decided to help dragons escape the massacre, only to be imprisoned in the dimension that they created. Uraraka had to make a living off smuggling potions for what her kind did in the past and has to be wary of showing herself in the human world. No wonder she didn't want to help dragons in the first place.
