A Wilted Rose, intertwined with a Blooming one

Bloom, Wilt, and Scatter is an Alternate Universe RWBY fanfic created by Starlight's Poet, formerly known as Demons Anarchy of Pride.

Adam Taurus is 17 years old and has become a major Lieutenant, hand selected by Sienna Khan. One day, a woman by the name of Cinder Fall makes him an offer: to join her and bring Remnant down on its knees. At first, he refuses. The next day, he and Blake attempt to hijack the Schnee Dust Company Cargo Train.

Everything plays out according to canon...until Adam remembers what Blake asked him.

That one question changes everything.

This page is in dire need of Trope Wiki love!

Tropes contained in Bloom, Wilt and Scatter include the following:

  • Adaptational Heroism: In the canon series, Adam Taurus was an absolute monster. He was confirmed to be abusive towards Blake, and to solidify his villain status, he chopped off Yang Xiao Long's arm! Here, however, Adam is...somewhat nicer and left the White Fang with Blake.
  • Age Lift: In the original series, Adam was stated to be somewhere in his twenties. Here, Adam is 17, thus being the same age as Blake and the rest of the main RWBY crew, minus Ruby.
  • Dark and Troubled Past: Adam's implied to have this in the story. While the details aren't exactly known, when Blake tells Adam she is considering leaving the White Fang and giving him a "The Reason You Suck" Speech, she proceeds to tell him he's turning out to be no different than the humans. Adam's visibly stunned by this and weakly denies those accusations.
  • Heel–Face Turn: What Adam does at the end of the Black Trailer segment of chapter one. When Blake left to join Sienna Khan's new White Fang, Ghira had asked him to look after her. That promise is the whole reason why Adam left to join Blake in the first place.
  • Original Generation: Also doubles as a Shout-Out to Daemon of Wrath, who has also helped contribute to this story. As per Word of God, one of Adam's teammates is Leonidas, a self-styled magician who was referenced in Of Crystal Shards and Dust as Velvet's pen pal and Edan Flaemis, a character who as made more than one appearance in any of Daemon of Wrath or Starlight's stories. Also along for the ride is Mary Blutvene.
  • The Promise: The primary reason why Adam left the White Fang with Blake. When she left to join Sienna Khan with Adam, Ghira asked Adam to look after her.
  • Meaningful Name: Per Word of God, Mary's first name is in reference to "Bloody Mary", the ghostly individual who appears when beckoned and claws out the poor sod's eyes. Blutvene is pronounced similarly to "blood vein." Leonidas' full name is unknown at this point, but his first name references the Spartan General and is also somewhat in reference to copper. Edan's last name, "Flaemis," is likely in reference to the alchemist and, obviously, fire.
  • Platonic Life-Partners: Adam and Blake. In this story, Adam grew up together with Blake, more or less becoming her surrogate brother.
  • Red Oni, Blue Oni: Adam and Blake, respectively. Adam is usually awkward in crowds and brooding, but he's still the same violent Bull Faunus from the canon series. Blake is usually the one who has to calm him down and prevent him from doing something stupid.
  • Ship Tease: Ruby and Adam, however that works. They are the main official couple of the story, but presently, they're more of the Red Oni, Blue Oni dynamic, with Adam being the brooding Blood Knight and Ruby being the shy and nerdy Genki Girl.
