    EMIYA

The Hero of Justice

"Servant, Archer. I have answered your summons, Master. I'm ready to begin the mission at any time."

EMIYA is not a typical Heroic Spirit in that he is not drawn from the past, but the possible future of Emiya Shirou, a young magus, and master of Altria Pendragon in another life. EMIYA was a young man who pursued his ideal of becoming a selfless Hero of Justice who could save any life that needed to be saved. However, he struggled to live up to such an impossible philosophy: at one point, to save every life from a major disaster he requested a miracle from The World in exchange for becoming a Counter Guardian after death. Because he would frequently show up at the sites of many disasters, EMIYA was eventually mistaken as a terrorist by the very people he was trying to save and was executed for it.

As a Counter Guardian, his new role was to be eternally summoned by The World as a defensive mechanism against great losses of life. Within this role, EMIYA was forced to kill and let others die because it would technically save a greater number of lives: the very antithesis of his Hero of Justice philosophy. Driven to near-insanity, EMIYA gambled on a desperate plan to be summoned in the Fifth Holy Grail War and kill his younger self, thus creating a time paradox that would free him from his contract with The World.

Despite his classification as an Archer Servant, EMIYA specializes in the use of Projection and Reinforcement magecraft, allowing him to create degraded replicas of any Sword-element weapon he has observed and wield them with the same skill as their original owner. His proficiency stems from his self-sacrificial nature, which allows him to create these replicas using his own body as a material component. The ultimate pinnacle of this lies in his Reality Marble, Unlimited Blade Works: an area-wide manifestation of his soul where he can perfectly and instantly replicate the thousands of Noble Phantasms he has observed across his lifetimes.

He first appears as a Blackened Servant in Fuyuki before appearing in Chaldea and becoming one of it's Servants.

  • Cynical Mentor: Having spent his life chasing an impossible ideal, he decides to take Izuku on as a student due to their similarities, but makes it clear he wants him to think more maturely.
  • Foil: He's one to Izuku and All Might; having spent his life trying to save everyone like All Might has, or how Izuku wants to, he is absolutely tired. It's why he wants to teach Izuku so he doesn't end up like him.
  • Power Copying: His main ability is Tracing, which allows him to copy any weapons he sets his sights on and add it to Unlimited Blade Works for later use. This includes a fair share of Noble Phantasms.
  • Supreme Chef: Mostly spends his off time cooking whatever meal Saber Alter wants him to cook.
  • Willfully Weak: He's not exactly holding back his punches, but he doesn't reveal the true power of Unlimited Blade Works to Chaldea.

    Orion (Artemis)

The Hunter (and the Goddess of the Moon and the Hunt)

Wooooooow, it’s so shiny in here!

The person identifying as the legendary hunter Orion is actually Artemis, goddess of the moon and hunters (the real Orion is the bear cub accompanying her). Artemis was also the patron of Atalante, who Artemis protected since childhood, gave the bow Tauropolos, and lent power to the Noble Phantasm Phoebus Catastrophe along with Apollo.

  • Actually, I Am Him: While the Saint Graph of the Servant is identified as being from Orion, Artemis is the one in charge of this particular graph: Orion is the small bear cub that is always with her.
  • Aw, Look! They Really Do Love Each Other: Most of their interactions have the two either bickering or Artemis beating Orion up for doing something perverted towards other girls, but there are points, particularly in their Interludes, where the two do show they legitimately love each other despite all that.
  • Badass Adorable: Look at her picture and remind yourself that Artemis is one of the more notorious goddesses in Classical Mythology.
  • Boke and Tsukkomi Routine: With Artemis as the boke and Orion as the tsukkomi, though Orion is not always a straight man when he goes into his usual perverted shenanigans.
  • Pervert Revenge Mode: With a twist: the one that inflicts the punishment is Artemis, while Orion inevitably tries to escape punishment and fail miserably at that.
