Gnomes

Lobgob

Inventor and train driver

Lobgob is the oldest son of Hal O' Hobb. He is the cleverest of the gnomes who designed and built the first steam train years before James Watt saw a kettle boil.

Gurtweed

Lobgob's brother

Gurtweed is Lobgob's younger brother who helps him keep the Boland Belle in working order. He was recently married.

Hal O' Hobb

Leader

Hal is the 1000 year old patriarch of the gnome settlement at Boland Banks. He is among the gnomes taken prisoner by Shera Beg's goblins.

Bumbletummy

Station Master

Bumbletummy runs the station, and enjoys gardening in his spare time.

Sneezerod

Ticket collector

Sneezerod works in the booking office selling tickets. He is able to escape from the goblins and persuade the Cowsies to help the gnomes.

Snurt

Signalman

Snurt operates the signal box deep in the Forest of Boland

Pootle

Mailman

Pootle delivers the mail, and is also a member of the Gnome Guard

Boombillywheel

Blacksmith

Boombillywheel is a skilled metalworker and wheelwright who made the gnomes' mine carts. He provided a set of wheels for the Boland Belle.

Tinker

Tailor

As his name suggests, Tinker the Tailor makes suits for the entire colony. He also volunteers with the gnomes' equivalent of Dad's Army.

Lock 'Em Up Loopy

Policeman

He patrols the gnomes' town on foot, records everything in his notebook, and guards the jail.

Goblins

Chief goblin

The villainous head goblin, with a grudge against Lock 'Em Up Loopy.

Shera Beg's gang

Goblins

Chaotic evil thieves, scavengers and slavers. Also referred to as Leprechauns.

Cowsies

Wood elves who initially took a neutral stance, but ultimately helped the gnomes drive the evil goblins out of the forest. In gratitude, they get to ride the train for free.
