Naturally, a soundtrack Lady Gaga helped put together is bound to have more than a few gems.
- The film's Signature Song, "Shallow"
. If there's still any lingering doubt as to Gaga's strength as a vocalist, let that note she holds at the song's midpoint melt them away. It won the Best Original Song Oscar, with Cooper and Gaga's performance being a centerpiece of the show. - Gaga's performance of the classic French song "La Vie En Rose" at the beginning of the film is just so beautiful. Cooper seeing Gaga perform the song at a fundraiser in real life is what prompted the production of the film in the first place, and it got her the role of Ally.
- "Always Remember Us This Way", performed by Ally at a concert she and Jack are headlining right after Jack first (as far as the audience knows) tells her he loves her. The moment/song in-universe doubles as a Heartwarming Moment.
- "Maybe It's Time" is a beautiful song that encapsulates Jackson's arc in the movie.
- "Black Eyes" Those vocals. Bradley Cooper, man, He Really Can Sing after all. Damn.
- "Why Did You Do That" is meant to be a banal, generic pop song to signal that Ally is selling out her vision for superstardom. It doesn't stop from being a fun, bouncy song that has a un-ironic fanbase.
